You will:
Performs lead diagnosis and skilled general mechanical work involving repair and maintenance of emergency vehicles, para-transit vehicles, other company owned vehicles and equipment, other non-company owned vehicles and equipment, maintenance equipment and other automotive/mechanical machinery. Provides technical training to other automotive technicians. Ensure vehicle availability for operations to meet daily operational needs and that all fleet vehicles are safe and to the highest of standards for operation.
· Ensure vehicles are safe and to the highest of standards for operation.
· Maintain and repair fleet of emergency vehicles, paratransit vans, ATVs and UTVs for internal and external customers.
· Perform maintenance, track and schedule preventative maintenance in a timely fashion.
· Operate emergency vehicle in accordance with company policy. Shuttle vehicles as needed for repair and maintenance. Responsible for picking up parts as needed.
· Ensure vehicle availability for operations to meet daily operational needs and that all fleet vehicles are safe and to the highest of standards.
· Maintain a safe, clean and organized work area. Minor repair and upkeep of building.
Required:
· High school diploma or GED. Minimum 18 years of age.
· Must have personal hand-tool set sufficient to perform duties.
· Possession of valid and unrestricted Driver’s License with insurable driving record and annual driving record check.
· Valid Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Technician Certification in A4 (suspension and steering) and A5 (brakes for both automobiles and heavy/medium trucks).
· EVOC certificate to be obtained within 30-days of employment (offered inhouse), pre-employment physical examinations/medical history check.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
· Skill in operating tools equipment, parts and procedures utilized during the repair and servicing of vehicles and equipment, skill in repair of special purpose equipment, ability to effectively communicate needed repairs or tasks, ability to diagnose defects in and repair a variety of equipment and vehicles, ability to utilize fleet maintenance software program (preferably Fleetio).
Experience:
Five (5) years previous experience and/or training involving mechanics, automotive/mechanical maintenance, welding, vehicle/equipment operation; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge skills and abilities for this job may be considered.
Preferred:
Certification in Emergency Vehicle Technician Certification Commission Ambulance Technician Exams in Maintenance, Inspection, Testing of Ambulances; Design & Performance Standards of Ambulances; Ambulance Cab, Chassis and Powertrain; Ambulance Electrical Systems: Ambulance Heating, Air-Conditioning and Ventilation Systems.
